Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support children with Special Educational Needs?

Horizon Teachers are working with a forward-thinking Primary school based in Islington, assisting in their search to expand their support team. The school are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is willing to create a supportive learning environment for students with complex needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with additional needs within mainstream and specialist classrooms. You will work closely with an experienced SEN team to provide personalised care and education, enabling these students to thrive in a mainstream school setting.

What will your responsibilities be?
  • Provide support to students with complex needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of behaviour support plans.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCO to adapt learning materials and activities to meet students' specific needs.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, communicating findings to relevant team members.
  • Support students with personal care and physical needs, ensuring their well-being throughout the school day.

What do the school require from you?
  • Relevant experience working with children with highly complex needs within a specialist or mainstream setting.
  • Understanding of various special educational needs, including Autism and ADHD.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • First Aid and basic medical training (desirable but not essential).
