We are working with and supporting a fantastic school in Leeds which is a special education needs school that caters for students with autism and associated difficulties, including ADHD and complex needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be supporting the class Teacher, to deliver high quality education and learning to children and young people with special education needs and other complex or anxiety related needs who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their diagnosis. Some pupils may also have multiple learning difficulties.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Working as directed by the Classroom Teachers and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Understand how a pupil's learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and understand the stages of child development.
  • Provide support and encouragement to children and young people.
  • Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self-esteem.
  • Participate in the marking of pupil's work and accurately record achievement/progress.
  • Encourage children to value their experiences and knowledge.
  • Be familiar and keep up to date with the school's systems and structures as outlined in policy documents including Health and Safety and Child Protection policies.
  • Be familiar and up to date with SEN Code of Practice.
