Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Greater Manchester (various locations)

Salary: £14+ per hour

Contract: Ongoing for the rest of the academic year

Reed Further Education are recruiting Student Support Workers in Greater Manchester.

Our clients are looking for multiple staff members to work with students, aged 16-25 years old, with additional needs.

These roles are a fantastic opportunity to work within education, full or part time for the rest of the academic year.

We are accepting applications from individuals with no educational experience, if there are some relevant transferable skills, such as Youth Work, Residential Childcare etc.

What will a Learning Support Assistant do?

  • Provide high quality support for learners with SEND, Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP)and High Needs in and out of class including trips, visits and residentials.
  • Provide out of class support for identified learners with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, developing and implementing strategies and resources to support social, emotional and study skills.
  • Develop and set SMART targets with learners and their Tutors to track the progress being by learners working towards EHCP Outcomes and Preparing for Adulthood.
  • Work closely with the Learning Support Manager and Learning Support Coordinators to review support for learners based on assessment evidence, the EHCP and High Needs Funding, to put a staffing plan in place to meet individual needs within the curriculum area/s.

The successful applicants will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Extensive experience of working with young people and individuals with SEND/Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities.
  • Organising and monitoring caseloads of support, and be able to accurately interpret Education, Health and Care Plans, and assessment reports.
  • Extensive experience of providing additional support in a learning environment for learners with an Education Health and Care Plan in place, both High Needs and non-High Needs
  • Knowledge of record systems, such as ProMonitor.
  • A minimum of GCSE A-C/Level 2 in English and Maths.
