Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team within an SEN school in Hartlepool. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of pupils with special educational needs. Experience working with SEN pupils is essential, and relevant qualifications are preferable.
Day-to-day of the role:- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural plans.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and the classroom environment to meet the needs of SEN pupils.
- Encourage pupils’ independence, self-confidence, and social integration.
- Monitor and record pupils’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
- Adapt communication style to effectively support pupils with varying needs.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists, as necessary.
- Proven experience working with SEN pupils.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are preferable.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by SEN pupils and strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of teaching staff.
