Lead Manufacturing Engineer

As a brand-new role to help us continue our journey of growth, our Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be a technical subject matter expert supporting the organisation, leading our manufacturing engineering effort with the development and deployment of strategies to ensure that NPI/D programs are executed efficiently and effectively, and to the highest standard. As our Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will help lead and implement manufacturing plans, resolve technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule and will have the opportunity to coordinate and implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts to continually drive Mirus forward in becoming a global leader in the manufacturing of aircraft seating.

The Role

  • Be the subject matter expert of lean manufacturing and manufacturing technologies to supporting the organisation and leading our continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop our manufacturing strategy in collaboration with the Operations Director to support our business expansion plans and operational objectives.
  • Develop our current and future production capabilities and processes, ensuring they are continually improved with the introduction of new technologies and equipment while seeking year on year manufacturing cost reductions.
  • Coordinate, plan resources and manage support for multiple projects to successful completion.
  • Implement daily lean management systems to support business operations, working towards process optimization activity to achieve a Right First Time and cost reduction plan.
  • Research and develop new processes, technologies, equipment, and products, introducing automation where applicable.
  • Develop and support personnel under your direct supervision, including technical and behavioural coaching. Providing an environment of constant learning, development and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • A degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience working as a Manufacturing/Production engineer or continuous improvement professional in a highly regulated industry.
  • Extensive knowledge lean principles, lean sigma and OpEx methodologies.
  • Contribute to the continuous product improvement by optimizing existing processes and identifying new opportunities of cost reduction.
  • Strong leadership with a passion to develop and build up people.
  • Adapt in the use and facilitation of structured problem solving tools and root cause investigations.
  • Ability to identify; document and avoid risk.
  • A profound working knowledge of production and processes, including robotics and plant automation.
  • Ability to evaluate, develop and improve existing Production processes.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • A high level of personal accountability and a strong bias for action.
  • Experience in the Aerospace/Automotive industry is preferable but not essential
