Lead Admissions and Attendance Officer

  • Job Type: Full-time - Term Time Only - Salary advertised is the PRO Rata'd salary - Ideally to start after the Easter Holidays - Working Hours are 08.00 - 16.00, Monday - Friday

We are seeking a Lead Admissions and Attendance Officer to manage a small team of administrators, providing an effective and efficient student support service. The role focuses on maintaining excellent attendance and punctuality, streamlining admissions and mid-phase entry procedures, and ensuring a smooth induction process.

Day to Day duties of the role:
  • Train, lead, manage, and supervise a team of Attendance & Admissions Administrators.
  • Oversee the twice daily processing of registers and any required follow-up actions.
  • Ensure compliance with the DfE guidance on attendance and punctuality.
  • Produce and analyse attendance reports for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and governors.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and staff to monitor student absence and promote the importance of attendance.
  • Coordinate with Achievement Leaders and the Safeguarding Team to implement referral processes.
  • Manage the administration of the school’s admissions policy in line with local authority guidelines.
  • Conduct parental and student interviews, oversee assessment testing, and monitor the progress of mid-phase admission students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all dealings with students and families.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy, preferably educated to “A” level standard.
  • Knowledge of the British education system.
  • Proven ability to manage and supervise staff.
  • Competency in running an efficient team.
  • Strong ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Awareness of the reasons for non-school attendance and strategies to address them.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with a variety of people.
