Job description:
This role as an KS1 1-1 Teaching Assistant involves working 1-1 with a child in Year 1 who has autism and behavioural issues who requires support throughout the school day. The school is located in the Preston area and is OFSTED rated ‘Good’ with a 1 form entry. This role is set for start date of after Easter.

Responsibilities as a KS1 1-1 Teaching Assistant in this school would include:
• Working closely with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Year 1, who require additional support, delivering interventions and small group activities.
• Liaising with the class teachers and parents on the development of the children and helping to plan and organise the lessons for the following day.
• Insuring children are safeguarded in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023.
• Providing 1-1 support to a pupil who needs extra help with their learning.
• Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Confident in supporting children with personal care, feeding and changing etc.

Requirements as a SEND KS1 Teaching Assistant in this school:
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, but not essential.
• Experience of working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, in a school setting or working with children in a similar setting such as care, support work etc.
• Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with special understanding of Autism and the appropriate strategies to support pupils with the particular needs.
• As a SEND Teaching Assistant you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team with other Teaching Assistants and teaching staff.
• Capability to build strong and trusting relationships.

Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
