Job Title: Key Account Manager - Head Protection and Respiratory PPE

Industry Sector: PPE, RPE, Wholesale, Distribution, Safety Suppliers, Health & Safety, Main Contractors, Housebuilders, Sub Contractors

Area to be covered: Large South East & Anglia (above M4/ River Thames)

Remuneration: £40,000-£50,000 + 20% Bonus

The role of the Key Account Manager - Head Protection and Respiratory PPE will involve:

  • Field sales role promoting our clients manufactured and distributed range of head protection and respiratory PPE
  • Primarily selling into construction, but in recent years our client has also serviced other sectors such as; engineering, transport, utilities, aerospace, aviation etc.
  • Account management led role
  • 60% of your role account managing circa 100- 120 independent distributors of health & safety equipment and PPE (and an additional approx. 20 national accounts)
  • Majority of accounts "super" £50,000-£150,000 or "premier" £150,000+" turnover
  • 40% of your time will be spent with end users such as main contractors, housebuilders and sub contractors
  • Team of four (2 x field sales Key Account Managers and 2 x Internal sales) combined responsibility for an area with a turnover of circa £10m
  • Managing accounts from £5,000 up to £1m
  • Typically one day per week in North of patch, one in South and a couple of days going into West London

The ideal applicant will be a Key Account Manager - Head Protection and Respiratory PPE with:

  • Field sales experience working within the construction industry
  • Proven track record of selling to main contactors or housebuilders and fulfilled through distribution
  • Comfortable with commodity sale (not project led)
  • PPE product knowledge is not essential, but associated product sales may be advantageous
  • Outgoing and lively personality
  • Comfortable working for a family run company
  • Adaptable
  • Analytical thinker, strong time management and organisational skills
  • Relationship builder and strong account management
  • Commercially aware
