PDS is passionate about creating a friendly, open and inclusive working environment where individuals are supported to excel in their area of expertise. If you are a self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills, looking for a challenging yet rewarding career in project management, look no further. We have an opportunity for a hardworking and flexible individual to join us in our mission to seamlessly deliver end-to-end control systems.

We are seeking a Project Manager who is early in their managing career or currently managing small projects and has aspirations to progress to larger and more challenging projects with support and training.

You will possess excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and communication skills. Your ability to build a rapport with clients, supply chain and team members alike is important. You will work as a Junior Project Manager holding a Technical degree (in Electrical/Electronics/Control Engineering), equivalent qualification, or have significant practical experience of working on systems projects (ideally within the infrastructure industry). You will have familiarity with Project Management processes, risk management, commercial management, and contract execution techniques, plus experience of managing small projects to time, cost and quality objectives. A working knowledge of control systems would be advantageous but not essential.

  • Preparing project programmes and management of project delivery timescales for engineering labour and materials.
  • Maintaining a risk register and managing the identification and mitigation of risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Financial reporting including cost monitoring and spend forecasting of labour and materials.
  • Attending and facilitating project meetings both internal and with clients.
  • Liaising with engineers, project managers, clients and stakeholders.
  • Management of internal project engineers and supply chain.
  • Preparing monthly progress reports.
  • Contract management for changes to requirements, cost, timescales and unforeseen events. Generally using NEC contract processes.
  • Preparing quotes for contract variations.
  • Managing client payment applications and certifying supply chain invoices.
  • For larger projects you will support the project manager in the successful delivery of the project to agreed targets, e.g. programme, budget and quality. Whilst also supervising small work packages which are part of the overall larger project.

What we offer in return.

  • In addition to a generous salary, you can expect to receive some other great benefits too.
  • 33 floating holidays to take when you like with your entitlement increasing by an additional 2 days every 5 years.
  • Performance related bonus.
  • Wellbeing benefit - a monthly instalment made in addition to your salary to contribute towards anything that makes you happy.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Anniversary celebrations it is important to us that we celebrate the commitment and value people have brought to our business over the years.
  • Social events - If there is one thing about PDS, it is that we love to get social, so this is a big part of our culture.
  • Hybrid working - If the pandemic taught us anything it’s that we don’t need to be in the office 5 days a week, every week, helping towards a not only a positive work life balance but a healthier planet.
  • Flexible working giving you the ability to finish at 1pm on Fridays.

We pride ourselves on being a great place to work but don’t just take our word for it, here’s what Project Manager, David has to say. David began his career with PDS back in 2007 as a Graduate Engineer and after climbing the ranks was recently promoted to Project Manager.

"PDS has a variety of work which keeps things exciting. The thing I most enjoy about my role is interacting closely with clients and end users, as I find it really satisfying working alongside them to meet their needs and requirements.

If I could sum up PDS is three words I would say, integrity, supportive and collaborative."
