Office Angels are so excited to be recruiting for a Junior Estimator based in Maidstone. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with roofing experience to transition into the field of estimating, where you can apply your technical knowledge while developing skills in cost estimation and project management within the commercial construction sector.

Job Title: Junior Estimator

Salary: £25,000 - £32,000 per annum

Role Type: Full-time, office-based role

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

As the Junior Estimator your key responsibilities would be:

  • Project Assessment: Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work related to roofing and cladding.
  • Material Take-offs: Calculate quantities of materials needed for roofing and cladding based on project requirements.
  • Cost Estimation: Utilize pricing databases, historical data, and market analysis to estimate costs for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Bid Preparation: Assist in preparing bids and proposals for roofing and cladding projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing for materials and services.
  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering without compromising quality.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of project estimates, correspondence, and relevant documents.
  • Cost Tracking: Assist in tracking project costs throughout the lifecycle of projects to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Tender Analysis: Analyse tender documents and prepare tender reports for management review.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and building codes related to roofing and cladding systems.

We'd love to speak to candidates with the following skills:

  • Experience:Prior experience in estimating, preferably in the commercial construction sector with a focus on roofing and cladding projects, is required.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency in estimating software or similar tools. Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Knowledge:Familiarity with roofing and cladding materials, installation methods, and industry standards/regulations.
  • Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Analytical Thinking:Ability to analyse project requirements, interpret data, and make informed decisions to produce accurate estimates.
  • Organizational Skills:Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
