Role: Independent Sexual Violence Advocate - ISVA

Based: West Yorkshire (hybrid)

Rate: £16 – 18 per hour dependent on experience

Start Date: ASAP – February 2024

Duration: 3 months with the possibility of an extension

Qualification: Lime Cultures, CAADA or other recognised ISVA Qualification would be highly desirable but not essential

Our client, a specialist charity that provides advocacy services to victims of violence and abuse, is looking to recruit an ISVA to support adults who have experienced sexual abuse and/ or rape (both recent and historic).

Synopsis of duties:

  • Support victims of sexual assault and rape (both recent and historic), advocate on their behalf and ensure they understand their rights and options and have access to all available services, agencies and support
  • Manage a caseload and provide emotional, practical and advocacy support through the Criminal Justice System
  • Explain criminal, legal and if relevant civil remedies and housing options to the clients and provide information and support around Criminal Injuries Compensation
  • Support clients to access additional services and support including mental health and counselling, housing, benefits, family support, sexual health and SARC
  • Contribute to Safeguarding and risk management decisions and work with the client, management, and partner agencies to ensure the clients safety remains paramount
  • Providing information about the impact of sexual violence and signposting clients and their families to specialist support services
  • Work closely with local and regional communities to improve referral pathways, reduce barriers to support and partnership working
  • Promote the service and ensure clients have access to all available services

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of advocating on behalf of victims of sexual abuse, domestic violence, CSE and/ or Child Sexual Abuse
  • An understanding of child protection, safeguarding, safety planning, risk assessments, Criminal and Civil Justice Systems
  • Proven track record of successfully carrying and managing a complex caseload within a community cased setting
