Our client is a fast-growing venture capital-backed renewable energy engineering spin out from the University of Oxford.

They are a team of world-class engineers and researchers, working on some of the most innovative developments in the renewable energy industry.

They are looking to fill the position of Head of Finance/Investor Relations with a candidate that is seeking employment within a fast growing organisation.

Please note this is NOT an accounting role in the traditional sense

Responsibilities and Duties

As Head of Finance/Investor Relations, the ideal candidate will report directly into the CEO, forming part of the Senior Management Team

The ideal candidate will;

  • Work closely with the CEO and the Board, developing comprehensive financial plans and strategies.
  • Design and implement a proactive investor relations strategy to effectively communicate the company’s vision, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential investors
  • Use financial models to forecast financial performance.
  • Undertake financial data analysis to support decision-making and identifying areas for improvement, in the company's decision-making process.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments and competitors’ activities to provide insights.
  • Ongoing management of investor relation activities, such as preparation of investor relations plan and budget for the IR function.
  • Oversee the company’s compliance with requirements related to investor communications and disclosure.
  • Organise and attend investor meetings, conferences, seminars, road shows and conference calls relating to both current and future fundraising activities.
  • Identity and assess financial risks,
  • Stay informed about industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes.
  • Managing the equity division and share schemes.
  • Managing relationships with banks and other financial institutions, auditors and regulatory bodies.
  • Overseeing and facilitation of external audits, addressing any audit findings and implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will meet the following Essential criteria;

  • Degree in Finance and/or Business
  • In-depth investment banking experience with a strong understanding of financial markets regulations and corporate governance.
  • Strategic financial management experience.
  • Excellent investor relations, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with investors, key stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and analysis, with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
  • A clear and concise communicator, different mediums.
  • A strategic thinker with an analytical mindset
  • Previous experience supporting company fundraising and grant applications.
  • Proven ability to adapt and manage a diverse array of tasks and priorities, whilst remaining calm and productive under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with decision-making skills and the ability to see the big picture.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills with respect to priorities.
  • A People Manager who is supportive, respects and is an advocate for belonging, inclusivity and diversity, who is able to identify and provide opportunities for personal growth and development.
  • A 'can do’ attitude - do what is needed for the business.

The ideal candidate may have the following desirable experience;

? MBA qualification would be highly desirable for this position.

  • Deal making experience either in Investment Banking, Venture Capital or Private Equity.
  • Management of a comprehensive virtual Data Room (ideally Firmex)
  • Experience within renewal energy technologies or R&D.
  • Experience in a start-up and or growing company environments.
