POSITION PURPOSE

The Investment Liaison acts as the primary point of contact between portfolio managers and all other T. Rowe Price groups. 

This position is responsible to manage the collection of a variety of investment related information and data while ensuring the integrity of all information used by portfolio managers in support of investment decision-making and/or information sent to external clients.  When appropriate, the Investment Liaison acts on behalf of the Portfolio Manager to leverage the Portfolio Manager’s time.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis of investment performance to include asset allocation, portfolio construction and positioning, cash management, attribution, characteristics and statistics to support a team of Portfolio Managers (PM) and their investment process. May act on behalf of the PM to execute investment decisions as outlined by the PM.
  • Develop and maintain charts, spreadsheets and hardcopy files to assist investment staff with fund and/or portfolio information to leverage their time. Financial information is gathered through a variety of sources and methods (i.e. GPS-Phoenix, Spyderweb, Factset, Wilshire, Bloomberg and Business Objects).
  • Manage various ad hoc projects and operational matters to leverage the Portfolio Manager’s time (i.e. compliance, corporate actions, GIPS composites, stock lending). Resolves operational issues that occur in portfolios by acting as an intermediary between the Portfolio Manager and TRP support functions in order to support the investment management process. Takes group responsibility for projects.
  • Respond to requests from internal groups about portfolios and related benchmarks (i.e., performance, attribution, investment strategy and outlook, portfolio composition, etc.) to leverage the Portfolio Manager’s time.
  • Represent the Portfolio Manager on enterprise wide initiatives to ensure the needs of Portfolio Manager are considered and are addressed in implementation of projects or delivery of services.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in analysis of investment performance, including attribution
  • Strong experience in Equities
  • Relevant experience in a financial or investment operations environment
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly across Microsoft applications and industry related data vendor systems such as Bloomberg and FactSet. Knowledge of Excel macros beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of accounting, trading, performance, and risk concepts
  • Thorough understanding of investment principles, asset classes and financial markets and their application to TRP investment processes and philosophy
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, quantitative modeling skills are beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in investment reporting
  • Strong organization and planning skills
  • Able to meet multiple client and stakeholder needs in an extremely fast-paced, high-volume environment with changing priorities
  • Able to work effectively with individuals at all levels in the firm
  • Able to work under pressure, make decisions and produce results with limited supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to navigate complex working environments to obtain desired results
  • Able to lead cross-functional teams to influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with all levels of associates

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or relevant international equivalent
  • MBA candidate / CFA candidate
  • Experience with using vendor applications and market data services (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg)
