Charity People is delighted to be partnering with Smart Energy GB to recruit an interim Head of Specialist Audiences to lead the high performing team responsible for building marketing partnerships to increase sign up to smart meters across the UK, ultimately paving the way to a smarter, more energy efficient future.

Smart Energy GB is undertaking a significant, nationwide project to roll out smart meters to every British home, endeavouring to transform the way Brits buy and use energy. This is an opportunity to be involved in one of the biggest technological and infrastructural investments of our time; over 60% of British homes have already converted, but Smart Energy have the ambitious goal of ensuring every home in Britain has this smart meter installed. This is a great time to join a project which benefits both individual households and the environment.

Salary: £74,000 to £76,000
Location: Hybrid working, ideally in the London (SE1) office a minimum of 2 days per week
Contract: Interim one year contract position

As Head of Specialist Audiences you will be responsible for playing an important role in the campaign as part of the marketing leadership team; you will lead the partnerships team and the organisation's approach to engaging customers in vulnerable circumstances using third parties. You will champion these audiences internally and ensure that the organisation achieves maximum return on investment from its partnership marketing programme.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-performing team, generating excellent partnerships and delivering a programme that can engage with a range of organisations, from national brands to local communities. You will do this as part of a team who value teamwork, communication and creativity in a role that incorporates marketing, business development, and relationship management of core current partners.

Key responsibilities within the role will include:

  • Lead on the delivery of omni-channel campaigns to engage customers in vulnerable circumstances, using your leadership skills to influence both internal and external stakeholders to meet the strategic objectives of the campaigns
  • Lead the development of the annual plan and budget for partnerships including prioritising investment decisions based on data insight
  • Identify key strategic partners nationally and regionally and a structure for ensuring manageable delivery via national, regional or local organisations
  • Be the organisation's senior point of contact for partner organisations, ensuring that both parties are happy and getting what they need from the work being delivered together
  • Identify the assets required to support partners and ensure that a system is in place for partners to access appropriate assets and information to support their communications about smart meters
  • Ensure that partners have in place appropriate service level agreements
  • Ensure that the service, organisational and operational requirements of the programme are implemented effectively, including appropriate risk and change management
  • Develop positive and productive working relationships with diverse stakeholders who are responsible for vulnerable customers (including vulnerable customer experts from the UK's energy companies, Energy charities and the UK Government)
  • Prepare reports and presentations on budgets, effectiveness and strategies and present to the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders if, and when, required
  • Work closely with the Insight team to ensure that an effectiveness tracking framework is in place to monitor and report partnership activity and success
  • Work closely with other Heads of across Marketing and other directorates to ensure that work with partners and stakeholders is aligned
  • Be a full member of the management group and play a positive and proactive role in the management of our organisation and campaign
  • Line management of two Senior Partnership Marketing Managers with a responsibility for their continuous development

We'd love to see applications from individuals with the following skills and experience:

  • An understanding of specialist audience partnership strategies and experience of delivering partnership marketing
  • Experience of managing complex, high-value programmes within deadlines and budgets
  • Experience of briefing creative, media, and social agencies, to develop paid activity aimed at specialist audiences
  • You will have developed, managed and evaluated successful partnerships
  • Excellent at building and managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and partners
  • Experience of putting benchmarks and key performance indicators in place to ensure campaign/project delivery

Desirable, but not essential is:

  • A track record of developing detailed project plans and the ability to demonstrate high levels of programme and external supplier/service management and project delivery
  • Appreciation of the objectives and activities of Smart Energy GB
  • Appreciate the diversity of the people and communities of Great Britain and embrace this diversity in your approach to work
