Our client is a well-established business operating within the motor retail sector with a presence across the North and Central areas of the UK and head office ideally located within the Midlands area.

As part of a key period of growth and transformation, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of an Accountant / Finance Leader to join the business as Financial Controller on a Interim basis.

This position is likely to last for at least a 6 month term covering aspects of both BAU and business improvement and does also have scope of further extension or conversion to a permanent position for those seeking a longer term opportunity.

Overview - To control and direct the accountancy function of the group, spanning over 15 sites internally, whilst ensuring compliance with all the accounting standards and procedures

• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for each dealership.
• Analyse financial data to provide insights into the financial performance of individual dealerships as well as the group as a whole.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Conduct variance analysis to assess deviations from budgeted or forecasted figures.
• Collaborate with dealership managers to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budgetary performance throughout the year and provide guidance on corrective actions if necessary.
• Update forecasts based on changes in market conditions, business strategies, or other relevant factors.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with auditors for the completion of annual audits and address any audit findings or recommendations.
• Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud or misappropriation.
• Develop financial strategies aligned with the overall business objectives of the dealership group.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making at both operational and strategic levels.
• Supervise and mentor finance teams at each dealership.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and development to enhance the financial acumen of staff members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to ensure high-performance standards are maintained.

The ideal candidate will be ACA / ACCA / CIMA Qualified and have at least 1 Years previous experience gained operating within the Motor Retail Sector either in a Operational or Group Finance Position.
Those that are Part Qualified or QBE will be considered as long as industry experience can be demonstrated

• A strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and experience in financial management is essential for this role.
• The ability to lead and motivate teams across multiple locations, set clear expectations, and foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• The capacity to develop and implement financial strategies that align with the overall business objectives of the dealership group, while also anticipating and addressing future challenges and opportunities.
• The capability to identify complex financial issues, analyse underlying factors, and develop creative solutions to drive financial performance and mitigate risks.
• Effective communication skills are crucial for liaising with stakeholders at various levels, including dealership managers, executive leadership, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

My client is able to offer this position on either a Limited Company or PAYE / FTC Basis with a salary up to £100,000 or Day Rate Equivalent
