About the Role:

We are seeking an Interim Accountant to join the Chief Accountant’s Team at the London Borough of Haringey. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Accountant and Deputy Chief Accountant in upholding the integrity of the Council’s accounts and overseeing the annual Statement of Accounts. The successful candidate will primarily focus on collection fund and revenue accounting, which includes completing notes to the council's statutory accounts, group accounts, cash flow statement, and statistical returns. This is a hybrid role where you would be expected to be in the office 1 day per week.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief Accountant and Deputy Chief Accountant in maintaining the Council’s financial integrity.
- Lead collection fund and revenue accounting activities.
- Complete notes to the council's statutory accounts, group accounts, cash flow statement, and statistical returns.
- Design and prepare working papers, managing audit queries within assigned areas.
- Collaborate closely with senior management to ensure financial reporting processes are efficient, up-to-date, and aligned with best practices.
- Oversee and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and policies.

About You:
- Technical expertise in financial accounting.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience in line management and team supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Currently qualified or actively pursuing CCAB qualifications.
