Salary: £36,000 to £39,000 per annumLocation: Based at our office in Harlow, Essex (2 days a week office based, 3 days WFH)Are you passionate about innovation, inclusivity and accessible transport, and looking for a new role where you can make an impact to disabled people across the UK?
What you will be doing:
  • Support the development of specific innovation opportunities identified by yourself or other team members.
  • Project manage specific project workstreams and tasks, developing leadership skills that will allow you to lead projects in future.
  • Conduct ad hoc research projects on disability and transport, bringing together existing evidence, both UK-based and international, providing excellent analysis and insight.
  • Support internal and external communications activities and build relationships with parallel colleagues in Government or industry.
  • Becoming a subject matter expert in accessible transport.
  • Supporting continuous improvement throughout the team.
  • Supporting collaborative workshops with internal and external stakeholders when required.
About you:

Must haves:

  • Experience supporting innovative projects, from discovery through to delivery.
  • Ability to support multiple simultaneous projects across a wide range of areas.
  • Highly IT literate with experience of MS Office applications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other charities, commercial enterprises, and Government.
  • Previous experience within a professional role such as design/engineering, project management, innovation or marketing, ideally with research experience.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience undertaking research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Product design, user-centred design, or innovation experience in a social impact context.
  • A genuine appreciation of design thinking and the double diamond framework.
  • Keen to use collaborative tools both virtually (e.g. Miro) and in person.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and a growth mindset.
  • Understanding of disability, mobility and accessible design issues.
  • Understanding of the transport and technology sector.
  • Great presentation skills, with an eye for detail and that can be used to influence audiences.
Motability Foundation


At Motability Foundation we fund, support, research and innovate so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. We oversee the Motability Foundation Scheme and provide grants to help people use it, providing access to transport to hundreds of thousands of people a year.

We award grants to other charities and organisations who provide different types of transport, or work towards making transport accessible. We also carry out ongoing research, in partnership with disabled people and key stakeholders in the industry, to inspire innovations that continue to champion accessible transport for all.
