Your new role
* Managing drafting, evaluation & negotiation through to execution of a variety of commercial agreements, review of customer proposed terms and conditions working closely with the commercial teams and General Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across the region.
* Perform risk assessments and reviews to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
* Monitor changes in legislation and advise management of necessary compliance measures.
* Develop, implement and review policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
* Manage compliance activities and report to the Board and Audit and Risk Committee on the adequacy and effectiveness of the risk management process, identifying areas to mitigate and remedial actions, including driving implementation as applicable.
* Liaise with the relevant external bodies to ensure compliance with regulations.
* Exercise oversight over governance, risk, compliance, and control arrangements.
* Provide training to staff on areas such as financial crime and data protection.
* Monitor compliance by company employees with established procedures to identify areas of recurrent pressure or friction for improvement opportunities.
* Ensure compliance with relevant FCA authorisations and coordinate with regulated payment service provider.
* General support including compiling and distributing a variety of high-level reports, both internally and externally.
* Handle ongoing commercial issues and change management, monitor transaction compliance (milestones, deliverables, invoicing etc) and support contract close-out, extension or renewal. Software and data focus is a large part of the role and a candidate will be expected to have SaaS, IaaS and general licencing experience.
* Support Data Protection matters (GDPR standard) across the Group to ensure robust compliance.
What you'll need to succeed

  • At least 1-2 years PQE and must be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a practising certificate
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the retail banking or financial services industry
  • Solid experience of Financial Regulatory, e.g. Consumer Credit.
  • Familiar with banking industry compliance process and policy
  • Experience of commercial contracts drafting, review, negotiation would be a plus, especially IT or software contracts
  • Experience of GDPR is desirable
