Information Compliance Manager /DPO

A public sector organisation based in the Southampton area, offers hybrid working to an experienced Information Compliance Manager.
Your new role
Your new role is responsible for ensuring the organisation complies with its legal obligations in respect of data protection, Freedom of Information and other relevant legislation. You will be managing and mentoring a small team and reviewing and developing the processes and procedures to improve the efficiency of the Information Compliance department and the service it offers. The role requires a professional approach, strong and tactful engagement skills and an understanding communication style. You will be working with a wide range of office and operational staff acting as an advisory SME.

• You will provide specialist advice on data protection, FOI's, SARs etc and will work with both internal and external stakeholders.
• You will hold the DPO designation and be the point of contact for the ICO for all data protection matters.
• You will support employees with understanding their responsibilities around data security and compliance.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a relevant background in information governance and ideally a data protection qualification.
You will have experience of reviewing, updating and writing policies as well as delivering training.
You will have experience of managing and developing teams.
You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate empathy with different stakeholders.

What you'll get in return
A salary of £42000-44000 plus local government pension and enhanced holidays/public sector benefits.
Hybrid working 2 days a week in the office
