This Indirect Tax Manager job in Edinburgh with an innovative and dynamic entity is a brilliant opportunity for an Indirect Tax/VAT professional to move into a managerial post either from HMRC or professional practice and take full responsibility for the organisation's indirect tax affairs. The organisation is growing and becoming ever more complex, particularly around dealings with the EU and as such needs a skilled, pro-active indirect tax practitioner to be at the forefront of decision making around tax matters. Reporting to the Financial Controller, your duties as Indirect Tax Manager will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ensure VAT compliance for the main legal entity and associated businesses
  • Advise relevant departments in relation to specific VAT liability and import/export queries
  • Determine VAT treatment for large capital projects and seek agreement with HMRC as required
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT returns for the main legal entity and associated businesses
  • Review ongoing compliance procedures and keep Senior Management up to date with any regulatory changes

In order to be successful, it is envisaged that you will be a skilled VAT/Indirect Tax professional with at least 3-5 years' VAT/Indirect tax experience. Applications are welcomed from candidates looking to make a first move from HMRC, as well as those engaged in a professional advisory firm, in-house corporate team or in-house public sector organisation. Regardless of background, your success will be determined by your technical knowledge, commercial awareness and ability to influence key stakeholders within and outwith the finance function.

As well as a comprehensive salary and benefits package, the organisation has fully endorsed hybrid/remote working and so if you are local to Edinburgh, they would like you in the office at least 1 day per week. However, if you are outwith commuting distance to Edinburgh, then the client will consider fully remote applications.

The role is an exciting one and offers a rare opportunity to make one's mark in a dynamic, fast-paced in-house environment, with real scope to shape the decision making process of Senior Management.
