£60K-£80K (depending on PQE) + bonus

Based South Wales (near Cardiff)

The role

  • Advising and collaborating with senior management on significant legal issues impacting ongoing business activities and future development opportunities in order to facilitate opportunity and risk assessment and sound business decision-making.
  • Design, development and implementation of legal function process improvements, policies and procedures and delivery of legal training.
  • Reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a variety of contracts, including distributor, customer, supplier, tender, financing, regulatory, corporate finance contracts.
  • To support commercial transactions and maintain a legal library housing all contracts and other documents of importance to the Group, including implementing a contract lifecycle management system.
  • To produce and administer periodic training sessions for the group's employees regarding issues such as data protection, slavery and anti-human trafficking etc.
  • To assist with company secretarial tasks such as record keeping, reporting, minute taking, and planning board meetings and annual general meetings.
  • To assist the ESG Committee (including MD, COO etc) appraise and evaluate the group's carbon reduction activities against the group's carbon reduction plan. To administer all enquiries related to the group's carbon reduction plan and train the group's commercial divisions to enable them to handle basic environmental queries.
  • To hold the role of Data Protection Officer and administer data subject access requests (DSARs), data transfer impact assessments (DTIAs) and other administrative data protection tasks.
  • Handling ad hoc queries and other matters as assigned which may include advising the business or other entities.
  • To assist with strategic corporate transactions, including diligence, corporate formation, risk assessment, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Effectively managing external counsel at the direction of the Group COO & Group MD.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

· Current SRA Practising Certificate (England & Wales qualified).

· Post-qualification experience in commercial/corporate law.

· Trained and qualified at a respected law firm.

· A solid grounding in UK Contract law and experience of negotiating UK and cross-border contracts.

· ESG and data privacy experience [Desirable].

· Corporate Finance experience, both deal and post-integration [Desirable].
