Humanities Teacher - Havant
Humanities Teacher - Havant / Portsmouth - Summer Term - 3-4 days per week
Academics are seeking an enthusiastic Humanities teacher to carry out a contract in a secondary school provision in Havant which caters for vulnerable pupils aged 11-16 years. This is a part-time contract, working 3-4 days a week, either from Monday-Thursday, or Tuesday-Thursday. This contract is to start after Easter, throughout the Summer term.
You will be required to plan and deliver Humanities across the school, mainly to KS3.
Due to the the needs of the pupils, class sizes are smaller than in a mainstream secondary school. The suitable Humanities teacher will have experience or a passion for working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs / challenging behaviour.
The school provides support to vulnerable students and aims to help them to succeed in a mainstream school or college or the world of work. The term 'vulnerable' covers many different needs: from medical and emotional difficulties that prevent or inhibit a student from attending school; to students experiencing behavioural difficulties for a range of reasons, such as an un-diagnosed learning need or a family crisis or having out-grown school.
The successful candidate will:
Be a fully qualified Humanities Teacher
Have proven success, recent and relevant experience in an educational setting (secondary school or alternative provision)
Have good communication skills and an ability to clarify and explain instructions clearly
Be able to demonstrate good organisational and behaviour management skills in a classroom setting
Be able to encourage, motivate and inspire young people to achieve their full potential
Be able to establish good relationships with students and staff
