I am seeking an experienced and qualified HSE Manager to join my Client based in West Horndon. The role is based at their head office with regular visits to key customer sites across the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy engineering sectors such as Power & Energy, Petro-Chemical, and Aggregate, and be well-versed in managing recognised health, safety, and environmental management systems.

Job Purpose:

  • Support top management in issuing and implementing HSE policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure the effective implementation, updating, review, and auditing of the company’s HSE systems.
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures and provide updates in line with legislative and company changes.
  • Conduct safety audits and lead accident/incident investigations.
  • Analyse accident/incident statistics to identify trends and suggest improvement plans.
  • Provide technical support and safety training to company personnel.
  • Liaise with clients on HSE-related issues and provide safety input into new projects.
  • Perform risk assessments and participate in HAZOP meetings.
  • Prepare HSE documentation for new tenders and provide support for contract start-up activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within heavy engineering sectors.
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.
  • Minimum Grad IOSH status.
  • Qualified internal health & safety auditor with experience in completing audits.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 management systems.
  • Full, preferably clean, driving license.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Pragmatic approach to HSE management.

To be successful in this role you must of previously worked in the Heavy Industry sector - Power stations, aggregate industry or Oil & gas industry due to the nature of this business.
