What’s the opportunity?

Our leading FMCG client is on the search for an experienced HR Manager to join their manufacturing site in East London. Specifically, they’re looking for a HR Manager who can help their people deliver amazing products every day, and help build a sustainable, successful business that continues to wow their stakeholders.

As part of the HR Leadership Team, you'll work closely with the wider HR team (L&D, Comms, Engagement and Operational), a broad range of stakeholders at your site, and external Trade Unions.

What will you be doing?

  • Delivering the people strategy; ensuring best practice HR excellence and supporting the achievement of business goals. You will also be responsible for maintaining consistency and providing value-added support across all areas of HR, including employee relations
  • Collaborating with others to influence policy and implement effective working practices and changes that continuously improve HR operations
  • Simplification and simplicity in approach will be important, allowing for effective focus on and delivery of business objectives
  • You’ll manage the site recruitment strategy/process, providing support and advice to line managers
  • You will provide support to central and support programs to ensure best in class performance
  • Identifying and addressing key business challenges, aligning HR to deliver effective solutions
  • Managing and ensuring effective industrial relations, ensuring an ongoing and constructive dialogue/meeting structure is undertaken
  • Management of the Apprenticeship program
  • You will hold the site HR and training budget

What are 'must haves’ from you?

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent by experience
  • Proven experience in a generalist HR role at this or a similar level
  • Experience within an FMCG environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a Unionised environment
  • Sound and up-to-date knowledge of employee relations and employment law
  • Proficiency in performance management techniques
  • Experience of advising line managers and problem solving across a full range of HR activities
  • Proven experience in providing advice on employment related matters, whilst keeping a focus on business outcomes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and persuade
  • Results-oriented, resilient, and highly motivated

What would be ideal?

  • Understanding of HR and Payroll IT systems
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Ability to identify training needs
  • Good presentation skills
