Responsible for supporting the HR Manager and the UPF team with HR activities. The role will support business performance through effective partnering with Managers in order to deliver the Company’s growth strategy; be accountable for effective HR provision and ensure the Leadership and Management teams are capable of delivering high performance through their people.

Key duties include:

  • Provide a robust and current HR service to all Line Managers, in order to support and enhance the employee experience.
  • Support in the development and implementation of staffing manning plans in partnership with the Department Managers.
  • Support and challenge the Department Managers with their line manager accountabilities, including: performance management of a diverse workforce, talent and succession planning, recruitment and retention.
  • Support Managers with disciplinary meetings, grievances, investigations and other matters requiring a BAU HR presence. Escalating to the HR Manager as required.
  • Act as a coach and 'sounding board’ for Managers in matters relating to employee relations issues: including performance management, absence, grievance and disciplinary procedures.
  • Manage recruitment administrative processes, such as issuing of offer and contract documents, checking right to work documents. Ensure strict compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Support, manage and monitor staff attendance processes including return to work meetings, Bradford points, clocking hours. Ensuring any non-conformances are flagged with the relevant managers, and resolved.
  • Carry out regular and ad hoc reporting, providing management and Managers with relevant HR and Operational data and commentary.
  • Project Management - work closely with the HR Manager to identify and manage projects to assist with the improvement of the HR offering, ensuring the business is supported efficiently and effectively.
  • Work with the HR Manager and Department Managers on creative strategies to resolve business inefficiency e.g. staff engagement, performance dips, staff retention.
  • Support the HR Manager with annual employment reviews e.g. salary benchmarking, benefit reviews, company Vision & Values, staff feedback.
  • Work with other members in the HR Team to influence a one team approach, to ensure the team delivers to the needs of the business.
  • Support change management processes through sound industrial relations practice.
  • Coordinate the implementation of site HR practices and procedures, communicating to managers and stakeholders, as required, to ensure consistency across the business.

The Person:

  • At least three years’ experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within a food environment.
  • Ideally CIPD qualified.
  • Understanding of the Business Partnering model.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, planning and organising skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise work, given the broad range of projects and issues which will be under their remit.
  • Innovative and creative approach, with commercial astuteness and the ability to influence others.
  • Able to work on own initiative, but to also manage self and others effectively, in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to other locations to support team activities
  • Able to maintain a professional manner with a high attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel (data analysis required).
  • Must be an individual committed to working within the Company Values and passionate about providing a high quality service to the business.
