We need an experienced, commercial, and business-focused HR Adviser with excellent interpersonal skills to provide a full, comprehensive HR service to a very varied client base.

Full Time (part-time [30 hours minimum] or job share will be considered)

This is a full-time role (although we will consider part time or job share applications) with a mixture of home working, client site work, and office attendance (based in Falmer) one day per week, currently a Thursday.  Therefore, your own transport is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR Adviser who is keen to build on their portfolio of HR experience. You will be working within a collaborative team of HR Advisers and will be responsible for providing professional, pragmatic HR advice to clients.

You will also be responsible for ensuring every instance of customer contact with the company is a positive experience, taking ownership over your work and building good relationships with your individual client base.

Due to the nature of the services provided and variety of clients we are looking for a resilient and confident individual who is happy to advise and communicate in challenging situations.

This is a varied role responsive to client needs and includes:

  • Providing the full range of HR services to clients from one off casework and support to managers through to proactive policy design, reviews of contracts etc.
  • Preparing Employment contracts, handbooks and other HR documentation. Although templates are used, each must be carefully prepared to match the clients specific needs.
  • Handling enquiries and liaising with potential/current clients, contacts and the team
  • Attending client sites as required throughout East and West Sussex to support with e.g. disciplinaries and grievances etc.
  • Keeping the CRM system updated with casework histories
  • Promoting the company profile e.g. through use of social media and networking
  • Attending networking events as required and support marketing activity: mailshots, organising events, producing flyers/promotional material, PR, etc.
  • Organising and participating in seminars and training for customers on employment issues, such as absence management, handling disciplinary & grievances, appraisals & performance management

To be successful in this role candidates will ideally meet all or most of the following requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Human Resources Practice. Level 5 Diploma in Applied Human Resources or Advanced Level (equivalent to Level 7) Award/Certificate in Human Resources or equivalent Employment Law qualification is desirable
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Strong Communicator as you will be dealing with business owners and their teams across a wide portfolio of businesses (verbal, written and strong telephone communication skills)
  • Able to work calmly under pressure and manage multiple projects at once
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing and challenging circumstances
  • able to work independently, showing initiative and being self-motivated
  • Highly organised with a high level of accuracy
  • Focused on delivering results
  • Resourceful and able to initiate activity
  • Team worker
