A Local Authority in the Eastbourne Borough is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housing Lawyer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a reputable organisation that is committed to providing quality legal services to their clients. The role will mainly be remote working, but collecting equipment would be necessary and occasional visits to the office would be preferred but not necessary.
About the RoleThe Housing Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice and representation on a range of housing-related matters. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years PQE as a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive, and will hold a practising certificate for the UK.
- Involve advocacy in the lower courts, as well as experience with all aspects of disrepair claims, housing possessions, gas safety and any other housing related work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write clear and concise reports, and to communicate effectively with members and officers at committees, hearings and panels.
- Excellent negotiating and drafting skills, and the ability to independently manage a substantial case load.
- Providing high level, complex legal advice in accordance with corporate policies and a local government setting
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships at all levels, in particular with key clients
- Working under pressure, prioritising work to ensure deadlines and targets are met
- Acquiring knowledge of a range of legal practice areas and applying legal knowledge and skills to these areas
