Hostel and HMO Officer

  • £19.48 per hour PAYE

Overview:

The role requires someone who has experience as a support worker, dealt with families and complex needs, it is essential that they have use of a car as we travel around and we work in the office every day, the role will be based in the Hostels so there is no option to work from home.

The team manage the support plans and manage the rent accounts so the post includes carrying out evictions. The team will need someone who is quite robust as most of our interactions are face to face.

Duties:

  • To provide a high quality service to Hostel and HMO residents who are housed in temporary accommodation with complex needs experienced by families and individuals.
  • Support people to sustain their quality of life, develop support plans and engage various support agencies.
  • Provide advice for safeguarding and health and well-being on a wide range of issues including housing, welfare rights, personal finance, hoarding, tenancy management, mediation, life skills and the promotion of personal independence.
  • Act as the principle point of contact for casework within Hostels and HMOs and residents to co-ordinate solutions for drug and alcohol, domestic violence, and mental health issues.
  • Ensure environment and condition that residents experience is high quality and well maintained.
  • Lead on safeguarding and vulnerabilities to ensure smooth transition into suitable accommodation.
  • Where relevant take action in line with license agreements, tenancy or leases, manage nuisance and anti-social behaviour casework.

Experience:

  • Working in social housing, care or similar public sector role
  • Experience of dealing with complex casework face to face and in writing
  • Experience of developing relationships with wide range of local stakeholders and partners
  • Experience of providing good tenancy, housing and leasehold advice
