With multiple sites in the UK, Gordon Murray Technologies continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a proven Automotive Homologation Engineer to join our team in a Midlands-based location

Role Guidelines:

Reporting to Head of Homologation, you will play an active role in both the planning and execution of the vehicle certification process. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting legal evaluations of automotive designs.
  • Performing sample testing for certification purposes.
  • Creating engineering documentation necessary for reporting to authorities.
  • Ensuring product legality throughout its production lifetime, post vehicle approval.
  • Playing a key role in the creation of legal documents under current and future legal frameworks.
  • Conducting research on these legal frameworks.
  • Establishing necessary processes and databases across the company.
  • Keeping various departments updated on homologation requirements that impact research, development, validation, and vehicle release in a global car manufacturing context.
  • Liaising with Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, providing vehicle information as requested.
  • Identifying applicable regulations, conducting necessary testing, preparing applications, and coordinating tests with external labs, vendors, and internal resources to ensure full certifications & compliance.
  • Organising and supporting documentation related to regulatory certifications.
  • Working with teams to ensure our products & processes meet evolving & applicable regulations.
  • Tracking and understanding the regulatory environment.
  • Facilitating discussions of legislative changes that might affect existing & new vehicle programmes.
  • Interpreting regulatory requirements for global market and different territories.
  • Communicating changes to regulatory requirements within the organisation and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Participating in design reviews, providing regulatory input to development teams and providing engineering analysis to policy and business groups.
  • Suggesting solutions for compliance issues affecting the vehicle design.
  • Reviewing manufacturing process to ensure the final product remains within the existing legal framework.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be confident, highly motivated, and possess excellent written & oral communication skills. Other qualifications and experience include:

  • Level of involvement in the development, homologation and certification of automotive products in both Europe and Federal geographies.
  • Experience of direct interaction and corporate quality communication with national and regional certification agencies.
  • Demonstrable skills in typical business software (Office, Clouds, etc).
  • Willingness to learn dedicated Homologation software (IMDS, DMX, etc).
  • High level of accuracy & detail.
  • Willingness to be involved in both typical office job and working in the field (test tracks, testing facilities).
  • Calm character in times of high demand.
  • Full driving licence is essential.
  • No visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union.

  • Knowledgeable: Up-to-date knowledge of domestic and international regulations and standards.
  • Organized: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Resilient and Determined: Exhibits a strong commitment to seeing complex processes through to completion.
