Are you passionate about creating a positive impact in your community? If so, a leading Domestic Abuse charity is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Homeless Prevention Officer to join our team in the mission to end homelessness and support those in need.

This fantastic charity is committed to providing vital support to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. The team works hard to empower survivors, break the cycle of abuse, and create a safe environment for everyone.

As a Homelessness Prevention Officer (HPO), the successful candidate will be a key member of the team and will be responsible for the delivery of homelessness prevention services across Carmarthenshire. They will assess complex situations, including problems concerning homelessness because of conflict within the family home and undertake appropriate liaison with other organisations where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Working directly with individuals undertaking home visits as required to identify the appropriate resolution.
  • Prove practical support to those affected by Domestic Abuse and Anti-Social Behaviour.
  • Work alone and as part of a team.
  • Complete dynamic risk assessments.
  • Deliver personalised, psychologically informed and harm-minimising support.
  • Managing a caseload of up to 20, establishing an open and trusted relationship acting as each service user's single point of contact and support.
  • Advocate for clients within the housing system to secure stable and sustainable accommodation.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, housing agencies, and community partners to identify and address the root causes of homelessness.
  • To deliver trauma-informed support using a range of therapeutic skills and psychosocial interventions and supporting clients to develop independent living skills to prevent crisis or tenancy failure.

To be successful in this position:

  • Hold academic achievement in housing or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in dealing with disputes and resolving complex stations.
  • Evidence of professional development and willingness to undertake training.
  • Experience within a support setting within with a wide range of professionals and partners.
  • Experience in support work or domestic abuse with an understanding of housing options, housing law and basic benefits.
  • A full UK driving license and access to a car.
  • Able take part in the on-call rota.
  • A strong character who can remain calm and collected in challenging situations.
  • Hold a good understanding of housing options (private & social housing), and the housing application process.
