Experience in care is essential, and working with homelessness and/or children is desirable.

The Role

As a Homeless Support Worker, you’ll be a frontline hero reporting to the registered manager within the dynamic places department of their housing, support, and wellbeing service. Be an essential part of the team, working collaboratively to monitor the well-being of families and deliver top-notch support for parenting assessments.

Exciting responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with colleagues and the scheme/registered manager to ensure family well-being.
  • Guiding families to achieve targeted expectations and contribute to fair assessments.
  • Promoting good parenting by supporting positive habits and behaviour changes.
  • Empowering families to take control of their lives and achieve key outcomes.
  • Independent living skills
  • Parenting and childcare skills
  • Recognising harmful behaviours and relationships
  • Prioritising the welfare of their children
  • Social skills and self-management
  • Quality of life and aspirations

Person Specification

  • Empathetic Listener: ability to listen, understand, and provide support to families, colleagues, and staff.
  • Safety Advocate: Understanding the importance of safety and security for parents and children.
  • Respectful Collaborator: Ability to work respectfully with families, colleagues, and other agencies, particularly during challenging times.
  • Effective Communicator: Ability to communicate, explain, negotiate, and persuade without confrontation.
  • Innovative Problem Solver: Able to view problems from different perspectives and identify non-standard solutions.
  • Integrity Ambassador: willingness to 'do the right thing' and behave with integrity.
  • Deadline Dynamo: ability to deliver tasks against deadlines, regardless of obstacles.
  • Positive Influencer: ability to positively influence and persuade others, creating acceptance and support for ideas during challenging times.
