Homeless Hostel Support Assistant

Our client, a leading homelessness charity based in London, are looking for Support Assistant to work in a complex needs service for clients experiencing homelessness in a west London borough. Due to internal staff secondments to other services, a number of positions have become available for workers to support former rough sleepers referred to services by homeless persons units, StreetLink and street outreach teams.

Candidates for this role will need:

  • Experience of working with clients experiencing homelessness in either a paid or voluntary setting
  • Experience of working in a homeless hostel is desired
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to support a very vulnerable service user group
  • DBS within 12 months of issue or registered to the online update service

Candidate duties:

  • Engaging with clients residing at the service and informal keyworking
  • Health and safety checks of the building
  • Welfare checks of vulnerable women residing at the service
  • Accompanying clients to appointments with external support service
  • Assisting clients to obtain their welfare, housing and related rights
  • Liaising with external agencies on behalf of clients
  • Liaising with contractors around repairs and maintenance issues
