Role Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Histopathology Consultant to join our team. As a Histopathology Consultant, you will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of various diseases by examining tissue samples under a microscope. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide accurate and timely pathology reports, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform histopathological examinations of tissue specimens to diagnose diseases, including cancers, infectious diseases, and inflammatory conditions.
- Interpret and analyze microscopic findings, integrating clinical and laboratory data to formulate accurate diagnostic reports.
- Provide expert consultation and advice to clinicians and other healthcare professionals regarding the interpretation of pathology results and patient management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, tumour boards, and clinical case discussions to collaborate on patient care plans and treatment strategies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance programs and standards within the histopathology department.
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including trainee pathologists and biomedical scientists, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Stay abreast of advances in histopathology techniques, technologies, and research developments through continuous learning and professional development activities.
Requirements:
- Medical degree from a recognized institution and GMC registration with a license to practice in the UK.
- Completion of speciality training in Histopathology and attainment of CCT or equivalent qualification.
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath) or equivalent professional body.
- Extensive experience in diagnostic histopathology, including reporting on a wide range of surgical and cytological specimens.
- Excellent diagnostic skills and proficiency in interpreting complex histological findings accurately.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
