High Voltage Design Engineer

Our client is a leading Electrical Engineering company who offer a complete service provision for network and utility connections. Established for over 20 years, the company design, deliver and manage electrical networks safely, securely and efficiently. We are now looking for a High Voltage Design Engineer to join their busy, growing and successful team.

High Voltage Design Engineer

£60-80K plus excellent benefits package

Hybrid working from home role with 1 day per week expensed travel to Scunthorpe

To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident High Voltage Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Distribution Design up to and including 132kV or with extensive and specialist experience within LV and 33kV. You will have previous experience of assisting the construction team in interpreting the designs and carry out audits when necessary to ensure quality. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills and other requirements for this role include:

• Able to lead management and customer relationships
• Experience of producing project cost estimates and reports, obtaining technical or major procurement item quotations
• Able to liaise with the customer, DNO and construction team to ensure the design approval process runs smoothly as well as the design construction process
• Excellent communication skills and confident in a client facing role
• A Degree/HND level qualification in a relevant Engineering subject
• Experienced in using AutoCAD software 6
• Experienced in using Windebut Software
• Experienced with using ERACS or other Power system software
• Possess a clean current driving licence

Job role and responsibilities:

As a High Voltage Design Engineer, you will be involved in producing preliminary and detailed engineering designs ranging from LV up to 132kV. Other responsibilities for this role include:

• Liaising with DNO/IDNO to get design approval
• Leading on the management of the customer through the design process
• Producing project cost estimates and reports
• Obtaining technical or major procurement item quotations
• Checking quality and technicalities of work produced by other team members, including initial sign-off
• Assisting, training and mentoring junior team members in their development
• Contribute to business development as required by the commercial team for new projects
