If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Health and Safety Advisor with a major civils contractor specialising in water projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems in compliance with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate potential health and safety issues.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders on health and safety matters, promoting a proactive safety culture and fostering a safe working environment.
  • Deliver health and safety training programs, toolbox talks, and inductions to ensure awareness and compliance with safety procedures and regulations across all levels of the organisation.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings, identifying root causes, and implementing preventive measures to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and maintaining positive relationships with relevant agencies.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Proven experience in health and safety management roles within the construction industry, with specific experience on water projects preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards relevant to the construction sector, including CDM regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and pragmatic approach to managing health and safety risks.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely qualification is desirable.
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
