Atkinson Moss have been engaged to support this leading organisation as they seek to appoint their new H&S Manager in Ipswich.

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 (plus bonus)

Location: Ipswich

To manage and advise on all matters concerning H&S within the business at all levels, ensuring that the business is proactively managing safety and providing a positive environment for the well-being of all its staff and stakeholders.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Lead all business issues relating to H&S.
  • Provide advice and direction to the Senior Leadership Team on H&S matters.
  • Leader in the development of H&S policies. Develop, maintain, and implement company H&S procedures / SSOW's to ensure best practice is maintained.
  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team in promoting a positive H&S culture.
  • Responsible for managing and reporting statistical H&S performance to the board of directors, analysing the data and advising the needed strategic, managerial & practical improvement areas.
  • Helping the management to foster a learning organisation mindset, advising how to learn from our incident, our positive interventions & best practices.
  • Responsible for H&S regulatory and procedural compliance in the UK.
  • Leading the investigation of our incidents to ensure that appropriate root causes are identified and targeting the continuous learning and improving in our operations.
  • Undertake regular visits to site and yard to support our operation teams and ensure that we are embedding our company values.
  • Building close and strong relations to our operational teams in order to provide efficient support and leadership.
  • Mentor staff at all levels in H&S matters.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the training requirements to the management for all levels of the business regarding H&S matters.
  • Provide regular support to the project teams
  • Liaise with clients and supply chain partners on H&S matters.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Diploma, or working towards being a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH).
  • Experience of managing Health and Safety at a management level.
  • The individual will be both focussed and thorough and have the gravitas and professional credibility to advise senior management when something needs immediate redress together with the tenacity and drive to ensure that the necessary action is taken.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure. The individual should have the ability to deal with other stakeholders in demanding circumstances to ensure the best outcomes for all.
  • The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development in connection with Health & Safety, with a focus on the development of an improved culture of safety.
