Pertemps have an exciting opportunity available for a Health & Safety Assistant to join a large Housing Association in Plymouth, for a 3 month project.

This is a full time role, 37 hours per week, £18.41 per hour
Initially for 3 months, based at Crownhill

As the Health & Safety Assistant, you will prepare and provide clear, consistent and quality Health and Safety advice and support in relation to all activities undertaken by the organisation. You will provide an operational advisory service embracing all aspects of health and safety management including, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation applicable, completing risk assessments, workplace inspections, assisting with audits, investigating recording and reporting accident/incident dangerous occurrences.

You role as Health & Safety Assistant will also involve -

• To develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures and safe systems of work across the organisation.
• To support and help the Health and Safety Manager on all allocated projects.
• To provide appropriate advice, guidance and practical support to Managers and employees in relation to all aspects of Health & Safety legislation and ensure compliance.
• Undertake on site monitoring on contractor and in house staff to determine compliance with legislation, risk assessments, method statements and other safe systems of work.
• To consult with trade union workplace Safety Representative, undertake joint safety inspections and attend Health and Safety Committee meetings when required.
• To assist management in the undertaking of risk assessments, workplace inspections and audits.
• To provide readily understandable interpretation of health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice, and best practice to the organisation.

The successful candidate will need to hold the L3 H&S qulaifcation and require H&S qualifications at NEBOSH or NVQ Level 3.
You will also need demonstrable Health & Safety experience and a full, clean driving licence.
