Our client provides world-class, cutting-edge science and technology expertise to support the defence sector of the UK and her allies.  They are currently looking for a number of Health & Safety Advisors to provide critical health & safety advice and promote continuous improvements across Safety Assurance, Chemical Safety, Explosives Safety, or General Safety.

Health & Safety Advisors

The Health & Safety Advisors will:

Dependent upon your specialism, you will be involved with some of the following:
  • Provide practical health & safety advice across the business.
  • Lead and report on safety tours (workplace inspections).
  • Assure compliance of work in high hazard areas, including weapons, explosives, chemistry and scientific trials areas.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance Team to deliver effective audit and assurance.
  • Review and advise on Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
  • Conduct fact finding, identify safety trends and analyse root causes.
  • Audit and assure compliance with mandatory and role-specific training.
  • Support the facility management teams to resolve issues, faults and defects.

To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience in a similar role, with excellent health & safety knowledge and experience of auditing and critiquing safe systems of work (SSoW), as well as previous experience of workplace visits and safety tours.  You will have experience of providing safety advice across on of Explosives Safety, COSHH regulations and Chemical Containment, General Safety or Auditing and Critiquing SSoW.  You will have the ability to work collaboratively with others and will have strong verbal and written communication and report writing skills.

You will hold a recognised Safety qualification, such as Level 3 NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety and a recognised qualification in Auditing (e.g. ISO 9001).  In addition, for the more specialist roles, you will need qualifications to HND/Degree level in Chemistry, Pyrotechnic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or another related Physical Science.

Higher qualifications and certifications would be highly desirable.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of work undertaken by our client, incumbents of these positions are required to be sole British Nationals and undergo pre-employment screening, able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK Security Vetting to SC Level.
