The Safety Manager oversees health and safety plans, enforces policies, assesses risks, and follows legal guidelines. They provide training, investigate incidents, and make recommendations for improving workplace safety and compliance. This client is looking for a stellar candidate who has multi-site management experience!

JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Manager

COMPANY: Manufacturing

CONTRACT: Permanent

START: ASAP

LOCATION: MUST BE ABLE/HAPPY to commute to sites weekly in Holmfield / Leicester/ Tutbury (hotels can be provided for long term stay if 1-2 sites are further away)

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT EXCLUSIVE TO:

  • Covering UK Manufacturing as a Health and Safety Manager.
  • Create an HSE roadmap for manufacturing to promote a safe and healthy work environment and culture for all employees.
  • A member of the Manufacturing senior leadership team.
  • Assist onsite managers and leadership teams in interpreting and applying health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures through clear communication.
  • Implement and maintain HSE management systems across the manufacturing footprint.
  • Serve as the sponsor and subject matter expert for the UK manufacturing HSE platform.
  • Lead the interface with applicable government agencies regarding HSE matters.
  • Identify internal or external noncompliance with regulations or company standards.
  • Risk management involves balancing cost, effort, and benefit against business and legal requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Managing stakeholder expectations and levels of engagement. Capable of managing complex relationships in diverse business and technical situations. Engage stakeholders and analyse their needs to make informed decisions.
  • Change Management is a hands-on, collaborative, and practical approach to successfully implement and sustain complex business changes.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to convey ideas, explanations, and opinions in an appropriate, understandable, constructive, and non-confrontational manner. Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate and influence decisions while maintaining composure.
  • Presentation skills include engaging with an appropriate audience and presenting complex data in a simple and effective manner.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Proven background within site based HSE for a large manufacturing company or similar industry.
  • Some knowledge of HSE legislation and good Operational management practices
  • Membership of an HSE professional association or institute (e.g., IOSH or equivalent professional body)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Auditing skills and report development
  • NEBOSH Environmental or equivalent.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of managing contractors.
  • Experience with health and safety management
  • Knowledge of fabrication, welding, and painting processes.
