HSE Recruitment are working with a Global manufacturing business who are looking for a Health and Safety Manager (or Senior Health & Safety Advisor) to cover two sites in Wolverhampton. If you thrive in a fast-paced site and want to work as part of a team who are able to make a notable difference, this could be the role for you.

The role reports into a forward thinking and collaborative H&S Business Partner who is also based in Wolverhampton. This role is key to allowing them to focus on strategy so we need an engaging professional who can be that dedicated hands on, day to day support, who will provide expert guidance, will work with the staff to bring them on that journey ensuring comprehensive safety management and continuous improvement is made.

It’s the perfect time to join as the Group manager joined a few months ago and they are already changing the perception of safety so you will be able to build upon that. They have £30 million of organic grown planned, have just opened a brand new state of the art site and are developing innovative products to support that growth. They have the support and investment of a large business but the freedom and autonomy of small business.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive a programme of works to create and advance of culture of safety management and positive interdependent safety behaviour within all levels of the organisation.
  • Work alongside the line management and operational teams to continually improve the safety of the working environment, appropriately identifying and assessing risk, and developing and delivering effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support the development and delivery of the implementation of Group Safety Standards.
  • Monitor the business's compliance with Health and Safety Policy and procedures and formally advise managers on areas of non-compliance.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practice, including management of the safety aspects of the legal register.
  • Working within the division's health and safety management team, appropriately support all sites and teams within the business, and provide direction and development to team members.
  • Maintain and advance the division's Health and Safety Management System, including policies, arrangements and procedures where required
  • Manage and support health and safety training needs, covering behavioral, practical and managerial safety aspects, including direct delivery of training where applicable.
  • Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in accordance with the company's policies. .
  • Maintain and manage safety reporting to the Senior Management Team.
  • Conduct internal audits, work place inspections and health & safety tours.

Person spec
  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum
  • Manufacturing experience is essential with some logistics or warehousing experience within that would be beneficial.
  • An experienced H&S Advisor or Manager capable of leading and taking ownership.
  • Someone confident in chaos, that thrives in that environment, who can hold their own and communicate well and who doesn’t get overwhelmed easily.
  • Someone who can hold their own, push back when required and be adaptable to changing demands.
  • Engaging and enthusiastic- someone who will work with the staff and bring them on that journey.

Salary on offer is £40-45,000 + Package
