Health and Safety Consultant

ETS Health and Safety are recruiting self-motivated health and safety consultants. The role will involve visits to client’s premises and will be home based for the remainder of the time. The ideal candidate will be based within the Home Counties.

ETS is an independent growing health and safety and fire safety consultancy providing practical workable to solutions to it’s clients. A common sense approach is taken by ETS when offering clients advice.

Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience

Principal Duties:

Provide a source of competent advice on Health and Safety matters to existing clients supporting the Principal Consultant when necessary including, but not restricted to the following -

  • Undertake health and safety and fire risk assessments at the client’s workplace, site or plant.
  • Develop health and safety policies and management systems.
  • Provide support and advice regarding health and safety considerations for clients and measures a company can take to improve the safety of their environment.
  • Investigate incidents or accidents and make recommendations/write reports.
  • Train clients to ensure that they are fully competent regarding health and safety issues.
  • Ensure a client is able to respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Carry out disability discrimination audits.
  • Carry out DSE assessments.

Applicants must have excellent verbal and written skills, be highly organised and be able to work unsupervised. Appointed persons will be expected to take a flexible approach to meet the business requirements. Due to the nature of the position and travel requirements to client sites, flexibility is required in working hours.

The position reports to the Principal Consultant and is suited to a candidate with a NEBOSH General Certificate who is looking to develop a career in Health and Safety. Applicants holding CMIOSH status will also be considered.

Mandatory qualifications and requirements:

  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • A working knowledge of risk assessment.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously.
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively with a range of people.
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation and regulations required by the HSE.
  • Enthusiastic in promoting first class Health and Safety standards.
  • Car owner with full clean driving licence.

Desired qualifications and requirements

  • Membership of IOSH and an interest in continued professional development.
  • Working towards chartered status with IOSH
