Edsential have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Headteacher based in Dorin Park School, Upton, Chester. You will join us on a full time, permanent basisand in return, we will offer a competitive salary ofL23 £82,269 to L30 £97,661 per annum.

About Us:

Dorin Park School is a specialist all-age school for children and young people with complex learning needs, including medical and physical difficulties. The school is situated in Upton-by-Chester in pleasant, leafy surroundings and a popular choice with parents and is rated as Good by Ofsted. Dorin Park is a school with a real sense of community we really are a school family. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming school with a strong emphasis on pastoral care alongside holistic education tailored to the needs of the individual pupil building confidence and independenceskills. Our pupils are hard-working and delightful, and the staff team of over 90 are dedicated and supportive.

The Headteacher role:

The role of the Headteacher at Dorin Park is to provide strategic leadership and professional management. This will secure success and improvement for the school; ensure high quality education and personalised learning for all its pupils and high standards and achievement in all areas of the school’s work. The governors will expect the Headteacher to lead by personal example in demonstrating a full and professional commitment to excellence in education.  The Headteacher will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, adhere to the Headteacher Standards and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.

Critical to the role of the Headteacher at our school is working with the governors and others to further develop a shared strategic vision and plan which inspires and motivates pupils, staff and all other members of the school community and leads to raised standards of achievement. 

The Headteacher of Dorin Park will have a professional responsibility to the whole school community. The Headteacher is also legally and contractually accountable to the governors for the school, its environment and all its work. Additionally, the Headteacher is responsible for ensuring collective responsibility in order that all members of the school community accept they are accountable for the contribution they make to school outcomes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative and resilient Headteacher to lead our successful and popular specialist school.  You will have a passion for working with pupils with special educational needs and their families. You will be able to inspire and unite staff in our drive to achieve the best possible outcomes for pupils. You will be a skilled and experienced leader with energy, a sense of fairness and strength of purpose. You will be experienced in working in a multi-agency environment to support children and young people’s education, health and care needs. The role will also involve working closely with other mainstream and specialist settings to develop innovative ways of supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs within the local area.
