Head of Tax, senior management role with leading professional Practice, Letchworth, c£100,000

Working for an accountancy practice with a portfolio of clients, the purpose of the role is to maintain existing client relationships, ensuring service levels are met and commercial, tax and business planning opportunities are considered. You will run a team of staff providing outsourcing and compliance services
The Head of Tax is available to applicants with strong technical capabilities in corporate and business taxes applicable in the owner managed and SME sectors. This will require an ability to give holistic advice, majoring in corporation tax but spanning areas like VAT, employment related taxes (share schemes/status) and, to a lesser extent, stamp taxes.

Good client care and development skills will be needed as there will be a strong advisory focus to the role, with a lesser focus on compliance work. The candidate will also be a natural team leader enthusiastic about, and capable of, driving the department forward through the dual aspects of:

  • Setting and achieving of financial targets, developing products and winning new work from new and existing clients
  • Leading the developmental and cultural aspects of the team, including appraisals, pay reviews and staff wellbeing, in line with the departmental and firm wide business plans.
