Are you a passionate and experienced educator ready to lead our client's science department to new heights? We're seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Head of Science at our Outstanding secondary school in Hertfordshire.

As the Head of Science, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of science education in our client school. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact, inspire both students and colleagues, and foster a culture of excellence within our science department.

Head of Science Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement innovative curriculum plans that align with national standards and promote the highest standards of academic achievement.
  • Mentor and support departmental staff, fostering their professional growth and development through effective coaching, feedback, and training opportunities.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of engaging and interactive lessons, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues across the school to promote cross-curricular links and enhance the overall educational experience for students.
  • Take responsibility for the effective management of departmental resources, including budgets, equipment, and facilities, to ensure optimal learning outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • University degree and PGCE or equivalent.
  • Experience within UK schools is required for candidates holding an overseas teaching degree.
  • Some sort of role holding responsibility is preferred, such as deputy of the science department.
