Head of Membership

We are now recruiting a Head of Membership to lead the Membership Team and promote our offerings/products to our Members. This is a hybrid role with the team based in Peterborough and will require occasional visits to our offices in London and Peterborough.

JOB BRIEF

As a senior leader within IOE&IT, your role will be pivotal defining and delivering a significant International Membership strategy with clearly defined and highly compelling suite of propositions to Students, Trade and Customs Professionals, Businesses & Affiliates.

You will take overall leadership for IOE&IT Membership, in order to grow our Membership in alignment with IOE&IT 2028 Strategy. You will work with the Sales & Marketing Director to define the structure for our Membership/Customer Contact teams ensuring we are most effective processes and engagement driving key touch points at Acquisition, Onboarding, Community and Retention with members, over the course of their membership.

It is also critical to optimal customer journey for all Business Members to have an assigned Account Manager to retain and develop their business. You will define and drive an agreed strategy to heighten our engagement and build our ecosystem of members, through national and regional events, working with key internal and external stakeholders (Partners, Organisations) to deliver highly subscribed and rated events

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership directly of Membership Community Lead and indirectly with Sales, Marketing and Membership/Customer Contact centre helping IOE&IT in recruiting and developing talent, driving performance and working with each individual to drive their personal development plans
  • Provide Monthly reports capturing key indicators, insights and actions for Membership and other stakeholder teams including Marketing & Sales
  • Deliver and drive, with input & support from Marketing, Content, Events, Academy and Sales departments, a credible and insights based strategy for promoting, recruiting, retaining and growing ALL Membership profiles
  • Define and drive a Community engagement strategy, incorporating regional events, Webinars, Special Interest Groups e.g. Manufacturing or Food & Drink (SIG’s) and other engagement opportunities, building our Brand and Membership targeting defined audiences, at both National and Regional level and covering Student, Professional and Business
  • Define and work with key stakeholder to package and promote highly compelling IOE&IT Membership value proposition and continually evolve to meet market and Member requirements
  • Regularly capture and assess Members needs and feedback, providing insights and direction on how you can improve our Member value proposition
  • Take leadership with support of Content, Marketing & Sales team driving always-on and very targeted member recruitment initiatives
  • Collaborate with External Affairs and Academy to ensure we optimise Member & Non-Member updates, in line with any Trade or Market changes and ensure balance
  • Ensuring constant quality of Member data is retained on CRM system
  • Any other reasonable tasks that relate to IOE&IT Members or requested by the Sales and Marketing Manager.

  • Senior & strategic thinker able to concisely define and communicate a clear strategy at C Level and across all key stakeholders
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in driving and developing Membership proposition
  • Highly motivated and driven individual able to lead, motivate and collaborate across the organisation
  • Excellent standard of English, both written and verbal.
  • Natural problem solver, showing initiative and able to simplify the complex
  • Ability to work with confidential and manage discreet matters/information, with thorough understanding of GDPR and Compliance requirements
  • Hungry to learn and develop, both personally and across your team
  • Exceptional organisational and presentation skills
