In this leading role, you will join and then inform and shape the strategic development and growth of our Open Market business, ensuring that we deliver our common mission - a home for everyone.

The Role.

As the Head of Land, you and your team will be responsible for land purchases throughout a specific area of the South West for housing development projects.

Specifically, you will acquire and manage a pipeline of deliverable land opportunities, working alongside Joint Venture (JV) partners to secure it for development.

You will lead the Land team and secure interests in land opportunities, including strategic and operational land with or without planning consent.

Negotiating and leading on legal agreements to enter into viable land and joint venture contracts, you will prepare comprehensive land proposal reports for approval.

Additionally, you will:

- Mitigate risk throughout the land process
- Manage internal and external consultants
- Identify and deliver other diversification opportunities
- Engender a culture of team working and engagement
- Assist in business plan preparation and forecasting

About You

To be considered as our Head of Land, you will need experience in the following:

- land acquisition via a variety of contractual arrangements
- negotiating deliverable planning consents, including S106 agreements
- successfully managing technical and professional staff and consultants
- assessing project risks, financial viability, negotiation and delivery
- managing public consultation events
- handling significant budgets and programme delivery
- knowledge of development processes for speculative commercial residential property and of land contracts, as well as planning law and processes
- a degree (or equivalent)
- a professional qualification or equivalent experience in housing, construction or property
