Head of Bids

Head of Bids – Up to £85,000 per year – Stafford (Hybrid) – SC Clearance

FryerMiles are delighted to be working with a global defence business to assist with the recruiting a Head of Bids to join their team based in Stafford. This is a hybrid working role where travel to Stafford will be required for key meetings.

The successful candidate will come from a defence background, hold valid SC clearance and have a proven track record of delivering bids from cradle to grave within the land defence, maritime or aerospace sector.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning and execution of the overall proposals, including all deliverables to the customer.
• Lead the training and skills development in win theme and discriminator development, proposal outlining, writing, etc.
• Collaborate and coordinate with proposal teams
• Assuring quality of deliverables (RFI response, proposal response, clarifications, demos etc.) to customer and full compliance with customer requirements or as otherwise agreed.
• Developing and maintaining the proposal management plan as the roadmap for proposal development.
• Determine staffing needs and priorities of the capture team, focused on proposal development.
• Providing inputs to capture budget with focus on proposal development and adjusting budget requests as circumstances change.
• Lead development of storyboards, RFP outline and compliance matrix, questions/comments on RFP.
• Conducting and presenting PTW analysis.
• Ensuring strategy and win themes are embodied in proposals and other key deliverables.
• Provide proposal development training in industry best practices including proposal management, proposal writing, graphics and action captions, colour team reviews, outlining, storyboarding and mockups, theme statements and discriminators, and other related topics.
• Responsible for creating industry-leading proposal infrastructure utilising MS Teams and SharePoint infrastructure.
• Oversee proposal production and editing.
• Arrange and lead gate reviews at the appropriate levels

Requirements:

• Bid / Proposal experience within the Land Defence, Maritime or Aerospace sector
• Willing to travel to Stafford at short notice for business critical meetings
• Experience managing complex high value bids from start to finish
