About the role

DFDS connects businesses and communities across borders, and our Business Unit Channel plays a crucial role in this endeavour. As the Head of Area Sales, you’ll lead a talented team, shape sales strategies, and contribute to our continued growth.

In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for driving area sales, overseeing the field sales activities across UK&I and continental Europe. You are first and foremost an exceptional people leader and you will be fostering collaboration, helping an experienced team become even better and ensuring sales excellence. Let’s delve into the details:

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing Area Sales:
    • Coach and lead a team of four experienced Sales Managers.
    • Provide strategic direction to increase sales and success rates within the area.
    • Identify target markets and guide the team on where and to whom we sell.
    • Develop own customer portfolio of new and existing customers (leading the way)
  • Driving consistency in ways of working and drive excellence:
    • Deliver on collective ambition of improving an already exceptional customer NPS score
    • Ensure uniformity in tooling, methods, measurements, and collaboration.
  • Supporting the Freight Sales Director:
    • Collaborate closely with the Freight Sales Director and the freight sales management team
    • Contribute to and drive the agenda for the Freight Sales Management team, working collaboratively with the Inside Sales Manager and Customer Service Manager.
    • Act as the Deputy for the Freight Sales Director.
  • Ensure Internal Collaboration:
    • Foster strong relationships within DFDS, both outside the Business Unit (BU) and at the with central teams.
    • Promote seamless communication and collaboration across teams.
    • Support on group wide priorities as needed.

As the Head of Area Sales, you'll leverage your analytical and strategic mindset to drive results, while also showcasing your interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with both clients and colleagues. You will need to be flexible as there will be aspects of travel needed to visit our customers and spend time with the wider team.
