About Us

This is a crucial moment in the development of both the National Forest and the National Forest Company, with a new 25-year vision for the National Forest, an ambitious strategy for the charity, and a renewed focus and purpose in light of the urgency of climate change.

The National Forest is one of the boldest environmentally-led regeneration initiatives in the country, demonstrating how trees can provide a catalyst for change both in the National Forest and beyond. Across our 200 square miles and over three decades we have a track record of making things happen, increasing forest cover from 6% to 22%, transforming the landscape and improving lives and the economy in this part of the Midlands. We are now looking to expand our team to secure the next phase in our development, facilitating the Forest for the Nation initiative with Defra, advocating our work with wider stakeholders and supporting our income generation plans to help deliver the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan and England Trees Action Plan.

We’re seeking a Head of Advocacy to join our small team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Benefits

- Salary range of £51,626 to £58,876 per annum
- Annual bonus
- Civil Service Pension scheme
- 30 days’ annual leave

The Role

As Head of Advocacy, you will work closely with the Chief Executive to drive forward the Forest for the Nation initiative, deliver a wide-ranging advocacy programme for the organisation and contribute to income generation targets.

You will build relationships, facilitate partnerships and unlock funding to scale up operational delivery and increase impact. This will focus particularly on the successful Forest for the Nation projects, whilst also advocating the National Forest model more widely to grow long-term support, extend influence and increase financial sustainability.

About You

You will need:

- At least five years’ relevant experience in a similar role
- Experience of building strong relationships, leading advocacy programmes and supporting income generation initiatives
- Experience of project planning, facilitation and financial management
- Proficiency in IT, including Office 365
- A degree, or equivalent
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation and communication skills

Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
