We are excited to work with London Fire Brigade, to secure an interim Head of Access and Workplace, to manage their property portfolio and the security of their estates. The role is for an initial 6 month basis.

Purpose of Head of Access and Workplace

We are looking for a Head of Access and Workplace to lead the strategic development and delivery of the London Fire Brigade’s workplace. This role is pivotal in creating and delivering a programme that improves the working lives of our staff and their ability to deliver great services. Your strategic vision will shape the future of our workspaces and ensure that our office estate and security are maintained to an exceptional standard.

Day to day role:
  • Have strategic oversight and management of the LFB Workplace, including headquarters and training estate, focusing on access, inclusion, and workplace improvement.
  • Foster a community-centric estate and deliver a customer-focused service, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and prompt issue resolution.
  • Provide property-related advice and assistance to internal committees and working parties.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance, improvements, and customer service across the full LFB office, training, and support estate.
  • Manage new works and decorations, ensuring prioritisation and timely completion using internal and external resources.
  • Oversee supplier management, including appointing contractors and consultants, and ensuring standards and compliance are met.
  • Provide management support, advice, and compliance reviews, including policy document reviews and representation at meetings.
  • Manage finances within approved budgets, provide monthly financial reviews, and maintain accurate records.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant business qualification, e.g., Building Surveyor degree or equivalent, is desirable.
  • Experience managing professional services in building maintenance and services in a multi-discipline environment.
  • Practical experience in the preparation of works programmes, including specifications, drawings, and schedules.
  • Experience as a contract administrator for building and maintenance works, with an understanding of soft facility maintenance services and contracts.
  • Proficiency in a range of IT applications and financial procedures, including budget monitoring and financial record-keeping.
  • Strong communication, organisational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Planning and Building Regulations, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation related to building maintenance and services works.
